Position: Maintenance Millwright Apprentice – Weekend Shift

Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 5:00 am - 5:00 pm. Work 36 hours, paid for 40 hours. Overtime may be required occasionally.

Environment: Cold, fast-paced, physically demanding; working with meat products (beef, pork, chicken, seafood, soy, etc.).

Responsibilities:

1. Setup, service, clean, maintain, and repair production equipment (meat grinders, formers, vacuum fillers, conveyors, spiral ovens, fryers, spiral freezers, cartoners, flow wrappers, tray pack machines, breading, and batter equipment).
2. Improve equipment function through design enhancements.
3. Support troubleshooting during downtime.
4. Follow manufacturing practices and standards (GMP, HACCP, WHMIS, MSDS).
5. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
6. Keep detailed maintenance records in CMMS.
7. Collaborate with maintenance planning for preventive activities.
8. Suggest continuous improvement ideas.
9. Promote health and safety in the workplace.
10. Complete maintenance reports and logs.
11. Ensure production equipment is serviced as needed.
12. Monitor and adjust equipment to reduce utility costs.
13. Enforce safety, health, contamination, and housekeeping policies.
14. Maintain clean and hazard-free work areas.
15. Work safely according to health and safety standards.
16. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. Valid Ontario Millwright license with proof of apprenticeship.
2. Proficiency in machine shop practices (lathe & milling).
3. Experience welding stainless steel (TIG and ARC).
4. Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
5. 2-5 years of industrial mechanical experience, preferably in food industry.
6. Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
7. Knowledge of health & safety and environmental regulations.
8. Adherence to Food Safety protocols.

Wages & Benefits:

1. Starting from $33.50/hr, depending on experience and training.
2. Comprehensive benefits after three months.

Wage range: $34.58 - $41.50/hr.
