Job summary

A leading company in food processing seeks a Maintenance Technician to ensure operational efficiency of machinery. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing equipment, and performing routine maintenance. Job description

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning equipment.
  • Inspect machines in operation on a continual basis to detect problems; exercise judgment in making the necessary adjustments so that quality control standards are maintained.
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Share questions, learnings, and best practices with fellow mechanics in order to contribute to machine efficiency levels leading to decreased machine breakdowns and downtime.
  • Retain accurate maintenance records and journals.
  • Repair and maintain processing and material handling equipment.
  • Carry out requirements of Preventative Maintenance programs.
  • Ensure all work is completed in a safe manner and complies with applicable industry safety standards.
  • Assist equipment operators to improve line efficiency.
  • Responsible for the setup and operation of various packaging and production pieces equipment.
  • Adjusts equipment to ensure production runs are executed efficiently, with high quality and minimal waste.
  • Partnering with QA, Packagers, and Lead Leaders.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs packaging and production equipment.

Skills and Experience :

  • Red Seal Certified Electrician preferred, or a combination of over five years of work experience as a Maintenance Technician supplemented by post-secondary courses in industrial machinery repair or millwrighting.
  • Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience in a high-speed packaging and / or manufacturing environment (food industry is highly preferred).
  • Experience in repair, overhaul, and troubleshooting of processing, packaging, and material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to take direction, both verbal and written, and communicate effectively; proficiency in reading and writing English is essential.
  • Willingness to work continental shift work.
  • Electronic, mechanical, and analytical aptitude.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Able to work alone and unsupervised.
  • Strong team player.
  • Effective time management skills and willingness to work weekends and after hours as necessary.
