Job summary

Custom Castings, a member of the Nordstern Group of Companies, seeks a reliable Maintenance Mechanic/Technician to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role covers troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and fabrication tasks across CNCs, furnaces, and casting equipment.

Ideal candidates will have a Red Seal Journeyperson Millwright certificate as an asset, with proven maintenance experience in industrial settings and strong problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Journeyperson Millwright certification is considered an asset.
• Experience in equipment maintenance and repair in an industrial or manufacturing setting is considered an asset.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are valued assets.
• Standard tool set is available to the candidate.
• Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting pumps, valves, and cylinders.
• Must be physically able to lift up to 40 lbs and work in tight or elevated spaces.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment including CNC machines, melting furnaces, overhead cranes, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, casting machinery and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Fabricate parts using welding techniques (MIG, TIG); modify or create custom components as needed.
• Conduct routine inspections, adjust machinery and document maintenance activities.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns quickly and efficiently — day or night, weekday or weekend, when required.
• Assist in the design and execution of custom jigs, fixtures, safety guards, and machine upgrades.
