Job summary

BC Place is seeking a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair mobile equipment and various building systems. You will ensure equipment is safe to operate and comply with Worksafe BC guidelines, while assisting with building fit and finish repairs as needed.

The role requires Red Seal Mechanic status or BCIT diploma, solid experience in maintenance and electrical/mechanical systems, and a willingness to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Varied experience in building maintenance, electrical systems, mechanical repairs, troubleshooting.
• Solid understanding of operating and maintaining mobile equipment.
• Ability to work safely following WCB regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs mobile equipment such as lifts, forklifts, tow tractors, small motors, and other electric carts.
• Maintains and repairs building mechanical systems such as overhead doors, partitions, dock levelers, doors, and hardware.
• Inspects and repairs building mechanical systems as required.
• analyzes and resolves technical concerns and performs maintenance tasks.

Job description

BC Place is hiring a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all mobile equipment. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering and Maintenance, the Maintenance Mechanic will ensure that all equipment is safe to operate and undergoes all mandatory testing and safety inspections as per Worksafe BC guidelines. This position carries out repairs to other building mechanical systems as required. This position will assist Maintenance Technicians with repairs to building fit and finish as and when required.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Maintains and repairs mobile equipment such as lifts, forklifts, tow tractors, small motors and various other types of electric carts (ie: golf carts, turf and lawn care equipment);
• Maintains and repairs other mechanical systems such as overhead doors, operable partitions, dock levelers, man doors, and hardware;
• Inspects, maintains and repairs other building mechanical systems as required;
• Analyze and resolve technical concerns and perform maintenance duties as required;
• Follow all safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment. Adhere to the stadium health and safety regulations, including Health and Safety regulations and company policies.

WHAT YOU BRING:

• Successful completion of an interprovincial or BC trade qualification as a Red Seal Mechanic or equivalent technical qualification, such as a minimum two-year diploma of technology (BCIT or equivalent);
• Varied experience in building maintenance, electrical systems, mechanical repairs, troubleshooting;
• Solid understanding of operating and maintenance of mobile equipment, working in a safe manner following WCB regulations;
• Able and willing to work varied shifts including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as required;
• Fall protection, scissor lift, forklift training/certification an asset;
• Welding experience an asset;
• Driven by service excellence.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $44.90 (single ticket); $46.48 (dual ticket)
