Maintenance Mechanic – 1 position
Are you looking for a role where you can work independently and solve problems? Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will maintain and troubleshoot plant equipment and machinery.
Job Posting Description:
- Ability to work with and interpret data and drawings.
- Operate, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, repair and solve complex maintenance problems related to various pieces of equipment including mobile cranes, palletizers, pallet conveying system, dock doors and levelers, material-handling equipment, lubrication types and systems, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems
- Operate machine tools such as lathes and milling machines and fabrication tools such as welders, breaks, presses, drill presses, saws, power threaders and punches.
- Fabricate parts and install machinery such as pumps, compressors, material-handling systems, electric motors, gearboxes and racking system.
- Perform work at heights and other duties as required.
- Operate Material Handling Equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, transporters, boom and scissor lifts.
- Have working knowledge of electrical, motor control and PLC’s.
- Building systems maintenance is part of this role.
- Maintain the work area and physical environment in a neat, clean, and orderly condition (5S).
- Mentor new employees on machinery and equipment start-up and best practices during onboarding.
- Take a leadership role in maintaining and improving line productivity.
- Contribute to the overall performance of the maintenance department to meet customer satisfaction.
- Follow all safety and company policies and procedures.
About You
- Must be a licensed Millwright (433A) and hold a valid Red Seal Certificate.
- Industrial Electrician Certificate is an asset.
- Programmable Logic Controller experience is an asset.
- Must have 5 years industrial plant experience as a journeyman including work with cranes, rigging and hoisting, material-handling systems, hydraulic and pneumatic operated systems, welding, fabrication, and machine shop practices.
- Previous experience operating Material Handling Equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks, transporters, boom, and scissor lifts; or be able to obtain a license within 6 months of hire (training provided).
- Capable of working at heights.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Motivated and a self-starter.
- Physically capable of performing all tasks involved.
- Available to work all shifts (Midnight, Day, Afternoon) and overtime, including weekends and call-ins.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safe working practices and compliance with OHSA, WSIB, and WHMIS.
