Job summary

Equans in Ottawa is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to install, troubleshoot, overhaul and repair industrial machinery.

You will read blueprints, align, dismantle and move equipment, operate hoists, inspect and perform preventive maintenance. Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada, able to work with minimal supervision, and capable in adverse conditions; French is an asset.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in an industrial environment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Motivated self-starter.
• Physically capable of performing all tasks.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; good verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment.
• Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
• Operate power tools, pipe threaders, hand tools etc; clean, lubricate and perform routine maintenance.
• Assemble machinery and equipment; apply mechanical repair principles and procedures.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs.
• Building systems maintenance; monitor subcontractor work.
• Provide written reports; analyze equipment breakdowns and propose corrective solutions.
• Follow safety and company policies; other duties as required.
