Job summary

Canadian Base Operators seeks Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanics for its Firebag River Airport operation near Fort Mackay. This fly-in fly-out role features a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation, with camp accommodation and flights provided.

You will maintain and repair light vehicles, heavy trucks, ARFF equipment, and small engines to support airport operations. A Red Seal certification and 3–5 years' experience are required, along with the ability to travel and pass pre-employment screening.

Qualifications

• Red Seal certification or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.
• Able to diagnose electrical/hydraulic issues.
• Skilled in interpreting manuals and writing service reports.
• Comfortable with demanding physical work and long hours.

Canadian Base Operators is seeking Heavy Duty Vehicle Mechanics for their Firebag River Airport operation near Fort Mackay. This is a fly-in fly-out opportunity with a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation, ideal for experienced mechanics who enjoy working on a variety of vehicles and equipment in a shop environment. The successful candidates will be responsible for maintenance and repair of light vehicles, heavy trucks, ARFF equipment, and small engines, supporting critical airport operations.

What You’ll Need

• Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician or equivalent certification
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on a range of vehicles and equipment
• Proficient in diagnosing electrical and hydraulic issues
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and write service reports
• Physically able to perform demanding duties (heavy lifting, working in awkward positions, long hours)
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Willingness and ability to travel
• Basic computer skills and strong communication/problem-solving abilities
• Familiarity with safety regulations and safe work practices
