Job Posting: Maintenance Manager – Circular Knitting Mechanic

Our London, ON facility plays a critical role in supporting our North American customer base with top-quality manufacturing and innovative solutions. We’re growing and looking to strengthen our operations with a skilled Maintenance Manager who brings deep knowledge of circular knitting equipment and hands-on mechanical expertise.

Position Summary:

We’re seeking a highly capable and experienced Maintenance Manager with strong circular knitting machinery experience, particularly in maintenance, changeovers, and equipment optimization. This is a hands-on role where your mechanical and electrical aptitude will directly impact our day-to-day efficiency, preventative maintenance program, and overall product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on circular knitting equipment, including Terry Knit machines.
  • Execute machine setups and changeovers based on production schedules.
  • Lead and maintain our preventative maintenance program for production and facility equipment (knitting machines, air compressors, forklifts, HVAC, Comfort Zone filtration, etc.).
  • Manage parts inventory, vendor communication, ordering, and cost control for maintenance-related items (e.g., needles, sinkers, belts, oils).
  • Support testing and calibration of equipment in collaboration with the Quality department.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed and that equipment and procedures meet OH&S and WHMIS regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records for all maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment performance.
  • Work closely with Production and Quality to align machine setup specifications with product requirements.
  • Organize and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient maintenance shop environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support ISO documentation as it relates to maintenance activities.

What You Bring:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with circular knitting equipment (required).
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with a proactive mindset.
  • Strong understanding of machine operation, maintenance best practices, and preventative systems.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with tight production timelines.
  • Ability to manage parts inventory, communicate with vendors, and oversee administrative tasks tied to the maintenance function.
  • A safety-first attitude with working knowledge of applicable health and safety standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to reduce equipment downtime and keep the plant running efficiently.

Nice to Have (Assets, Not Required):

  • Experience with Terry Knit machines specifically.
  • Familiarity with ISO systems and documentation processes.
  • Background in mentoring or leading junior mechanical staff.
  • Electrical certifications or experience with industrial automation.
