What you'll do
Are you ready for a challenging position in a fast paced 1.5 million square foot automated distribution facility? This dynamic environment requires an individual with highly developed people management skills, competent organizational skills and a passion for leading people. You will ensure asset reliability and availability through the effective management of processes, technologies and a dynamic maintenance team.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Facilities, Automation & Maintenance, the Maintenance Manager, Bolton, is responsible to ensure reliable, safe and effective operations of the Bolton Distribution Centre warehouse facilities, assets and equipment. You will be part of a management team with the function of establishing and monitoring asset reliability standards for physical assets of the Supply Chain network, ensuring cost effective, safe, and reliable asset utilization to meet expected capacities. .
As a member of Supply Chain Facilities, Automation and Maintenance team, you will participate in a demanding, fast paced operations environment ensuring reliable facility operations in Canadian Tire’s Supply Chain distribution network.
In this role, you'll:
Manage and own the Maintenance department profit plan (budget) of $5 million.
Manage the overall maintenance function of the Distributions Centres. Ensure proper preventative maintenance and emergency breakdown repair capability on all equipment and systems.
Develop collaborative, proactive working relationships with the Operation Managers.
Continuously optimize maintenance to ensure the Bolton DC meets planned facility capacity, and operation’s forecasts and targets.
Lead, motivate, mentor, and coach a multi-disciplinary team of Supervisors, Skilled tradespersons and technologists across multiple shifts.
Ensure safety standards are met for both the Maintenance department and facility and operational equipment.
Manage the staffing requirements of the Maintenance department, define performance expectations and manage performance through coaching, feedback and performance reviews.
Ensure a positive working environment through continuous communication of policies and procedures that affect the Maintenance department staff. Conduct regularly scheduled meetings to inform, resolve issues and provide direction.
Create a shared vision for a proactive and preventative maintenance team.
Ensure Maintenance staff is fully trained and competent.
Manage external vendor, contractor relationships and maintenance services to ensure contract compliance and successful delivery of services.
Monitor maintenance and operations performance metrics to ensure problem areas are addressed and develop appropriate actions plans to resolve issues.
Manage, monitor and maintain the integrity of MAXIMO and ensure compliance of users to maintenance processes dependant on MAXIMO requirements.
Ensure the maintenance parts inventory is managed appropriately to ensure availability and contain costs.
Manage external vendor, contractor relationships and maintenance services to ensure contract compliance and successful delivery of services.
Develop SLAs with external vendors/suppliers/services providers confirm insurance certification, track budgets, process invoices and approve change orders and close out contracts.
What you bring
Typically 5+ years of related management experience.
Post Secondary degree in engineering (Electrical or Mechanical), technology diploma (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial) or equivalent Skilled Trade and relevant technical experience.
Good understanding of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting (power and controls).
Conversant in preventive and predictive maintenance tactics.
Working knowledge of fire and safety codes.
Working knowledge of racking configurations, standards of Provincial and Federal code.
Passionate, influential leader that can build a credible roadmap, strive for the common good of all stakeholders and commits to and delivers results.
Managing and developing a large team.
Budget management experience.
Directing multi-disciplinary team on multiple shifts in an operating environment with a proven track record of meeting targets, reducing costs and increasing reliability.
Demonstrated excellent people management skills.
Demonstrated working knowledge of maintenance and/or plant engineering processes.
High tolerance for change and ambiguity.
Proven ability to positively interact and communicate at all levels of management and staff.
Experience with CMMS, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Nice to have
Experience with Supply Chain or Distribution Centre operations and processes.
Experience with Material Handling Equipment systems and controls and their application to Distribution Centre processes.
