Job description

We have a very unique opportunity for someone looking for a lifestyle change to be a Maintenance Lead in a beautiful Northern Canadian community in Nunavut.

You will ideally bring 5-10 years’ experience working as a power engineer or another recognized trade working in facilities or larger building maintenance. You will be very mechanically inclined, skilled at troubleshooting, and able to perform repairs and routine maintenance efficiently and solution-focused.

You will have previous leadership experience, overseeing a small team or working as a foreman, as you will be required to provide guidance and support to the maintenance team, ensuring that work and tasks are delegated and completed.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on HVAC and boiler systems.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing plumbing systems (water supply, drainage, and heating lines).
  • Preventative maintenance on mechanical systems, electrical, and some structural components of the buildings.
  • Respond to emergencies and ensure top safety and compliance.
  • Conduct property inspections and provide recommendations for upgrades.
  • Perform work outside in the elements, including grounds keeping, snow removal, etc.

Schedule is Monday through Friday, general business hours, alternating coverage with other team members for on-call duties.

Compensation range is $100K to $110K plus bonus depending on experience, and you will also receive a northern living allowance.

This is not just a new job or career; this is truly a lifestyle opportunity.

You will thrive in this environment if you are used to remote camp-style work environments, have grown up or lived in smaller, more isolated communities, or just thrive in a minimalist style of living. You love nature and the great outdoors, and being away from the hustle and bustle is your ideal.

During the winter months, there is mostly darkness, and during the summer, there is constant light.

If you have the qualifications and this sounds like your dream opportunity, apply now!

  • Problem-solving skills and solution-focused.
  • Proven leadership capabilities having led a small team or crew.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
