Job summary

Lactalis Canada is hiring a Maintenance Intern for an 8‑month winter contract to support maintenance activities in a manufacturing plant. You will participate in planning, design and implementation of process and continuous improvement projects under supervision.

The role requires engineering program enrollment, problem-solving ability, CAD proficiency, and strong collaboration skills. Benefits include vacation pay, health & dental, and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an engineering program (e.g., industrial, mechanical, chemical, or food engineering).
• Enjoys solving problems and making logical decisions.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and concepts, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context.
• Proficiency in CAD software and technical engineering tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Motivated to learn and open to meeting new challenges.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.

Responsibilities

• Identify gaps to improve the operation of equipment.
• Work closely with leadership team, multi functional teams or members of other departments to help in optimizing processing procedures
• Responsible to document project, procedures or one point lessons generated from the project
• Communicate and train processes or procedures to hourly or salary personnel as required to sustain new implementations or improvements
• Track progress adequately of the required actions and provide updates and feedback to manager.
• Creating PM plans, updating BOM’s in SAP in order to optimize preventative maintenance program in a critical line or equipment
• Work with SAP to optimize or implement new work management systems such as the notification system.
• Work with maintenance team to troubleshoot problems and perform preventive maintenance
• Assisting on general maintenance projects
• Update engineering drawings and labels
• Participate in the installation of new equipment

Compensation:

As part of our commitment to fairness, trust, and transparency and our ambition to be an Employer of Choice, the base salary range for this position is: $26 – $28.
