Job description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Foreman at various sites, a Maintenance Hydrovac Operator is responsible for operating the Hydrovac truck safely and efficiently. This includes reading and understanding locates, Hydrovacing buried facilities using the appropriate methodology as designated by the utility owner.

How You’ll Add Value
  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
  • Complete thorough pre-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and perform periodic checks throughout shifts
  • Record deficiencies and report them to the Maintenance Superintendent and repair team
  • Operate Hydrovac trucks and other equipment safely, maintain cleanliness, and keep a daily logbook compliant with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Act
  • Successfully complete Hydro Excavation projects including utility line exposure, debris removal, slot trenching, and digging
  • Set up and inspect grounding and bonding procedures for Hydrovac operations
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and timely
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance
  • Operate additional heavy equipment as needed to support projects
Qualifications & Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience operating Hydrovac trucks or similar equipment in heavy civil construction
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying at least 50 lbs repetitively
  • Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract (no more than 6 demerits, no major infractions)
