Position: Maintenance Hydrovac Operator

Reporting to the Foreman at various sites, the Maintenance Hydrovac Operator is responsible for operating the Hydrovac truck safely and efficiently. This includes reading and understanding locates, Hydrovacing buried facilities using the appropriate methodology as designated by the utility owner.

How You’ll Add Value
  1. Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment.
  2. Complete thorough pre-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and periodically throughout a shift.
  3. Record deficiencies and report to Maintenance Superintendent and repair team members.
  4. Operate Hydrovac trucks and other equipment safely and effectively, maintaining cleanliness and keeping a daily logbook in compliance with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Act.
  5. Successfully complete Hydro Excavation projects, including utility line exposure, debris removal, slot trenching, and digging.
  6. Set up and inspect grounding and bonding procedures for Hydrovac operation.
  7. Complete all required paperwork accurately and promptly.
  8. Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, as well as routine maintenance.
  9. Operate additional heavy equipment as needed to support project requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Qualifications & Experience
  1. At least 2 years of experience operating Hydrovac trucks or similar equipment in heavy civil construction.
  2. Physical ability to lift and carry at least 50 lbs repeatedly.
  3. Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract (no more than 6 demerits, no major infractions).
