Job summary

The Department of Infrastructure (INF) maintains and develops GNWT public transportation infrastructure and related services. The Maintenance Engineering Technologist based in Hay River provides technical support for MMS/EMS, assists with Capital and O&M projects, and helps update highway maintenance standards across the North and South Slave regions.

The role requires a Civil Engineering Technology diploma with highway experience, AutoCAD coursework, and a valid NWT driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology with 2 years' experience in highway construction and highway maintenance or related work.
• Completion of AutoCAD and other engineering related computer courses.
• Equivalent field experience of a junior capacity will be considered on a case-by-case basis with emphasis on highways, transportation and infrastructure knowledge.
• Valid Class 5 NWT Driver’s Licence or eligible to obtain an NWT driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance engineering team in delivering engineering and technical services for Capital and O&M programs across multiple regions.
• Provide technical support for the Maintenance Management System (MMS) and Equipment Management System (EMS).
• Assist with Capital and O&M project delivery and review highway system maintenance standards.
• Collaborate on multi-regional projects and ensure programs are delivered efficiently and within budget.
