Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking students with a background in Mechanical Engineering who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in an industrial environment. Candidates must be willing to commute or relocate to the area for the duration of the co-op. Applicants should be enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution throughout the co-op term and must provide proof of a valid work permit if applicable. About Trail Operations

Trail is one of the world's largest fully integrated lead-zinc smelting and refining complexes, with over 26 plants processing materials globally to produce significant amounts of refined zinc and lead. Located in southeastern British Columbia, Trail offers outdoor activities and a balanced work-life schedule, along with a competitive compensation package.

Salary is based on academic progress and prior co-op experience.

Responsibilities
  • Lead safety initiatives and adhere to safety and environmental protocols
  • Assist in project management and maintenance coordination within the processing plant
  • Monitor budgets and suggest cost-effective solutions
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams on project designs
  • Coordinate maintenance and shutdown schedules
  • Support operational troubleshooting and repairs
  • Innovate to improve business processes
Qualifications
  • Enrolled in an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license; vehicle access preferred
  • Ability to follow a clean-shaven policy and wear a full face respirator
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and industrial environments
  • Self-motivated with multitasking skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CAD software is an asset
