Job summary

Public Service Commission, Government of Nova Scotia is seeking an Enforcement Officer (Relief) in Sydney to enforce maintenance orders under the Maintenance Enforcement Act. You will conduct traces, garnish resources, and represent the Director in court as required, while handling a large caseload in a dynamic environment.

You have an undergraduate degree and at least five years of related experience, plus strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree plus 5 years related experience.
• Experience with government programs and policy environments is preferred.
• Ability to manage a high-volume case load and work with the public on sensitive issues.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Proven discretion, judgement, analytical and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct traces and search information to locate payors and resources.
• Garnish/seize resources and issue liens/judgements when required.
• Request revocation of licenses and negotiate payment arrangements.
• Represent the Director in court proceedings and manage a large caseload.
• Communicate with payors, recipients, lawyers, and stakeholders regularly.
• Contribute to a project to operationalize processes into a dashboard design.
