Job summary

Southland Trailers is seeking a Journeyperson Maintenance Electrician in Alberta to diagnose faults quickly, fix them right the first time, and keep our materials processing equipment running safely.

You will troubleshoot motors, drives, PLC I/O and safety circuits, read electrical schematics, and perform welding, fabrication and basic machining as part of a hands-on maintenance team in a busy manufacturing environment. Overtime and weekend shutdowns are available as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires Alberta Journeyperson Electrician certificate; Red Seal is an asset.
• Industrial maintenance experience preferred, ideally on materials processing equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting of motors, drives, PLC I/O and safety circuits; hydraulics and pneumatics familiarity.
• Ability to read electrical, hydraulic and mechanical schematics; welding, fabrication and basic machining skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot & repair electrical, controls, hydraulic and mechanical problems on press brakes, lasers, plasma tables and plant equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, lubrication and inspection routes to catch issues early.
• Investigate root causes, fix problems, and suggest improvements to reduce downtime.
• Service plant air systems, rotary screw compressors and air leaks.
• Fabricate and install replacement parts; assist with equipment relocation and leveling.
• Follow lockout, hot work and guarding procedures; document work orders and parts in maintenance system.
• Mentor apprentices and operators on maintenance best practices.
