Job summary

Mauser Packaging Solutions is seeking a Maintenance Electrician to ensure the line runs safely and efficiently in a fast-paced plant in Canada. You will replace sensors and defective parts, work with PLC equipment, and ensure high-quality output while maintaining a safe and tidy workspace.

The role requires completion of an industrial electrician apprenticeship or equivalent experience, plus strong PLC and electrical troubleshooting skills.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a four- or five-year industrial electrician apprenticeship program or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and related courses.
  • Read and understand pneumatic, hydraulic, electric and electronic documentation and drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLC motor controls and electrical equipment.
  • Perform PLC programming & diagnostics on various systems and troubleshoot electrical equipment.
  • Strong understanding of Allen Bradley Control Systems, RS Logix 5000 & Siemens S7 preferred.
  • Experience with Fanuc and Toshiba a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good mathematical and organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work multiple shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain line safety and keep equipment running smoothly in a high-speed plant environment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and PLC-controlled systems.
  • Read diagrams and data sheets to diagnose issues and perform diagnostics.
  • Work with PLCs, relays, contactors, overloads, timers, sensors, and proximity switches.
  • Collaborate with team to ensure a safe, efficient production line.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and keep work area tidy at all times.

Here’s what you can expect on a typical day as a Maintenance Electrician on our team at Mauser Packaging Solutions:

  • Safety: Safety is our number one priority. You’ll learn our plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training including lockout/tagout, housekeeping, and 5S standards.
  • Quality: We take pride in our output, and you take pride in ensuring our equipment is running smoothly and safely.
  • High-Speed, Loud Environment: We convert coil to sheets then coat and print them. It’s fast and can be loud. Some areas of the plant get very warm in the summer.
  • Hard work: Each day you’ll be bending, lifting, stooping, and like to repair equipment. You will replace sensors, contacts, or other defective parts. You’ll work with PLC equipment, multiple small tools, and high-voltage equipment. You are responsible for keeping your equipment in safe, usable condition and your area safe and tidy at all times.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a four- or five-year industrial electrician apprenticeship program or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and high school, college or industry courses in industrial electrical equipment
  • Read and understand pneumatic, hydraulic, electric and electronic documentation and drawings and interpret equipment data
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting skills, preferably in PLC motor controls and electrical equipment
  • Perform PLC programming & diagnostics on various systems and troubleshoot electrical equipment such as relays, contactors, overloads, timers, photodetection & proximity switches or light curtains
  • Strong understanding of Allen Bradley Control Systems, RS Logic 5000 & Seimens S7 preferred
  • Experience with Fanuc and Toshiba a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook a plus
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good mathematical and organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work multiple shifts
