Job summary

Sunrise Farms is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support the plant's equipment and building repairs during evening and night shifts. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and replace components in production lines while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

Ideal candidates hold a Red Seal Electrician ticket, have 1–3 years of related experience, and can work independently or in a team.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Electrician Ticket is required.
• 1–3 years related mechanical aptitude experience.
• Experience in a food processing environment is an asset.
• CMMS experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety, federal, state and local regulations and environmental requirements.
• Repair production machines, bearings, seals and alignment as per methods.
• Maintain RTU filters, belts and general maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance in Production and common areas.
• Diagnose faults using appropriate tools for preventive maintenance.
• Use power and hand tools; maintain them in good condition.
• Replace solenoids, motors, pumps and gearboxes.
• Inspect safeguarding devices, sensors, thermostats and related equipment.
• Plan and organize all work and assignments efficiently.
• Keep work areas clean and safe; report defects to Maintenance Supervisor/Operations Manager.
• Work with contractors and oversee activities as required.
• Complete tasks as requested by Maintenance Manager/Operations Manager.

Role:

To assist the Maintenance Team in providing the plant with a high level of maintenance expertise, that ensures departmental downtime, meets Company objectives efficiently and to carry out equipment and building repairs as required, while adhering to quality, safety and legislative guidelines.

Evening & Nightshift

Responsibilities:

• Comply with the company safety, federal, state and local regulations, plus environmental requirements
• Performs all tasks as per recommended job methods, procedures, etc., particularly on the repair installation of production machines, bearings, seals and their alignment
• Maintenance of RTU filters, belts and general maintenance
• Carries out preventive maintenance tasks to Production & common areas
• Diagnose complex and common faults of mechanical equipment by inspecting and using appropriate tools of preventive maintenance
• Through familiarity, knowledge and uses of power and hand tools and equipment in a skillful, efficient manner, maintaining them in clean operating condition. Uses hand and power tools to build buggies, carts, airlines, castors and rails
• Replacement of solenoids, motors, pumps and gearboxes
• Inspect equipment to ensure all safeguarding is in place and functional, including safety sensors, limit switches and photo-eyes
• Electrical knowledge to replace lamps, ballasts and familiarity with thermostats and sensors
• Plans and organize all aspects of work and job assignments, in an efficient and productive way
• Maintains work areas in clean and safe conditions, removing all waste on completion of work, or earlier if necessary
• Reports all defects, errors in production, and machines which may affect the workplace to the Maintenance Supervisor/Operations Manager
• Performs and assists in other maintenance duties as required
• Work closely with contractors and oversees activities as required. Provides resource support as required
• Completes tasks at the request of the Maintenance Manager/Operations Manager

Requirements:

• Red Seal Electrician Ticket
• Must Perform Overtime, Weekend work and On-Call/Support as required
• Shift Work as required
• Grade 12 education
• Have 1 to 3 years related experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude
• Experience in a Food Processing Plant is an asset
• Experience with Live Animals and proper care and handling asset
• Be success-driven and have a “can do” attitude
• Be able to work independently, as well as being a strong team player
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Have a good safety record and work ethic
• Flexible and adaptable in ever-changing environments
