Maintenance Coordinator/Coordonnateur des services d'entretien

The Ministry of the Solicitor General is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Coordinator to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of our facilities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the scheduling and coordination of maintenance activities within the facility.
- Work closely with tradespeople (plumbers, electricians, maintenance mechanics, groundskeepers) to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- On a frontline essential position, be onsite five days a week and available for on-call duties as required.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to manage maintenance projects.
- Address grievances and oversee recruitment as part of managerial tasks.
- Ensure the maintenance team operates safely and in accordance with operational standards.
About the organization
- The Correctional Services Division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General maintains provincial correctional institutions for adult offenders and oversees community supervision of probation, conditional sentences, and provincial parole.
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
- Valid class G driver's license or equivalent recognized by the Province of Ontario.
Leadership and technical competencies
- Experience providing strategic direction, coaching, and guidance to staff or project teams.
- Ability to foster a high-performance, learning-focused environment and promote growth and continuous improvement.
- Ability to engage team members in a positive, inclusive workplace that encourages innovation and creativity.
- Proven ability to develop and implement practical solutions to complex issues.
- Experience managing budgets and human resources, including labour relations matters.
- Knowledge of contract management, reporting, costing, project management, and ability to interpret plans and manage multiple maintenance projects.
- Understanding of HR practices, policies, collective agreements, and government financial/administrative procedures.
- Knowledge of OHSA regulations, safety standards, construction/renovation requirements, and blueprint reading.
- Technical knowledge of trades (plumbing, electrical, general maintenance) and ability to ensure timely project completion.
Communication and stakeholder management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to present information clearly.
- Ability to plan and lead activities within established timeframes.
- Supervisory skills to manage staff and stakeholders in high-pressure situations.
