Overview

Responsibilities
  • Operate automobiles, vans, and police radios.
  • Check servicing and repair work of RCMP vehicles.
  • Determine the general nature of mechanical problems.
  • Perform minor repair tasks.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Maintain simple files and records.
  • Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
  • Up to high school graduation, preferably including or supplemented by courses related to the work; sound experience in operating passenger vehicles and some experience in automotive repair or service work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of safety rules for operating and driving passenger vehicles.
  • Sound knowledge of district streets and traffic routes, RCMP policies, practices and procedures related to the work.
  • Understanding of how combustion engines and automotive equipment work; ability to operate vehicle and police radios; ability to check servicing and repair work to ensure proper completion.
  • Understanding of tool and equipment care and usage.
  • Class 5 BC Driver's license and a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Must obtain and maintain an Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance as a condition of employment.
Location and hours

Location: Burnaby RCMP Detachment, Burnaby, BC. Work location: On site. Hours: Auxiliary position; hours and shifts dependent on operational requirements, up to 5 days per week between 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
