Job summary

Your Team

Join Flair’s Maintenance team, where real-time technical oversight supports aircraft safety, availability, and operational reliability. Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance Control, the Maintenance Control Supervisor is a licensed AME-M2 responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Maintenance Control Centre (MCC) and provides direction to Maintenance Controllers. This role ensures maintenance control activities are carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements, approved procedures, and operational priorities.

The Maintenance Control Supervisor provides technical guidance on aircraft defects, troubleshooting, maintenance requirements, and return-to-service activities. Working with operational and technical teams, the role coordinates maintenance activities and supports timely decision-making to keep aircraft safe, serviceable, and available for operation.

This is an on-site position based at our Toronto, ON (YYZ) office.

A Day In The Life

• Provide day‑to‑day oversight and direction to MCC Controllers, ensuring Maintenance Control activities and Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMPs) are completed in accordance with established requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to MCC Controllers during unique, uncommon, or operationally challenging maintenance situations.
• Monitor MCC workload and operational priorities, providing direct support and assuming MCC Controller or MCC Specialist responsibilities when required to maintain continuity of the operation.
• Oversee Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events, delegating activities to MCC Specialists as required and assuming AOG management responsibilities in their absence.
• Support the Senior Manager, Maintenance Operations, during the Maintenance Control Manager’s absence, maintaining continuity of MCC operations and supporting operational decision‑making.
• Monitor and communicate changes to fleet airworthiness and aircraft maintenance status to appropriate operational stakeholders.
• Collaborate with MCC Specialists, Line Maintenance, Technical Services, Materials, and SOCC to develop and assess aircraft recovery plans during operational disruptions.
• Initiate aircraft swaps when required to support maintenance needs and make decisions regarding aircraft discrepancies and deferrals within established authority.
• Maintain awareness of maintenance and operational challenges across the network and authorize the use of the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and other approved deferrals within established authority.
• Review and document technical delays, dispute delay coding where appropriate, and provide recommendations to reduce recurrence of maintenance‑related delays.
• Provide maintenance event information to the Customer Experience team in support of Air Passenger Protection Regulations (APPR) inquiries.
• Coordinate out‑of‑hours technical requests with Boeing as required.
• Coordinate maintenance ferry flights in accordance with approved procedures and applicable requirements.
• Identify and report safety concerns, incidents, issues, and hazards through the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Education:
  • A valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) license is required.
  • Post‑secondary education in Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation, Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Boeing 737 NG and/or MAX aircraft endorsement is considered an asset.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive aviation maintenance experience, including hands‑on experience as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME M2) supporting line maintenance, aircraft troubleshooting, and real‑time technical decision‑making.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Maintenance Control or Operations Control environment, supporting aircraft serviceability, maintenance recovery, and day‑of‑operations requirements.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or lead experience overseeing Maintenance Controllers or AMEs in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Experience providing technical direction, managing workload and operational priorities, and coaching or mentoring maintenance personnel.
  • Strong experience with Boeing 737 NG and MAX aircraft systems, including troubleshooting, MEL application, discrepancies, and deferrals; aircraft endorsements are considered an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of Transport Canada Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs), Maintenance Control Manuals (MCM), and approved maintenance programs.
  • Experience managing AOG events, aircraft recovery, technical delays, deferred defects, and maintenance‑related operational disruptions.
  • Experience analyzing maintenance and reliability trends and contributing to technical delay and root‑cause reviews.
  • Experience coordinating across Maintenance Control, Line Maintenance, Technical Services, Materials, and Operations Control to support aircraft recovery and operational requirements.
  • Experience using aircraft maintenance tracking systems; AMOS experience is preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining and reviewing technical documentation, maintenance records, and aircraft logbook information.
• Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to provide direction, coaching, and technical guidance to Maintenance Controllers in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Strong technical judgment and decision‑making skills, with the ability to assess aircraft maintenance issues and make timely decisions while considering safety, regulatory, and operational requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with Maintenance leadership and cross‑functional operational teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to pilots, Maintenance, Operations Control, Technical Services, and leadership.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills with the ability to address operational and interpersonal issues professionally and support effective resolution.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data, maintenance records, aircraft defects, and reliability information.
  • Strong knowledge of Transport Canada Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs), Maintenance Control Manual (MCM), Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM), Minimum Equipment List (MEL), and approved maintenance programs.
  • Strong situational awareness with the ability to assess operational priorities and balance competing aircraft maintenance and operational requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing technical documentation, aircraft defects, deferrals, maintenance records, and logbook entries.
  • Proficiency with aircraft maintenance and tracking systems; AMOS experience is preferred.
  • Strong commitment to aviation safety and active participation in the Safety Management System (SMS).
• Requirements:
  • Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references.
