Salary: $43,158.00 - $50,713.00 per year plus Remoteness Allowance, if applicable

  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and be able to work in various locations within the Division
  • Must be physically capable of duties including sitting, lifting, reaching, working at heights, and in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work overtime, including evenings and weekends
Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience with general building, grounds, and equipment maintenance, including preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety policies and legislation
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive relationships
  • Verbal and written communication skills

Desired:

  • Trade designation (e.g., 5th class Power Engineer, partial or full trades certificate, BOMI Certificate)
Primary Duties:

The Maintenance Assistant performs tasks related to the operation and maintenance of government facilities, including office buildings, housing units, and correctional centres. Responsibilities include preventative and corrective maintenance, maintaining heating and cooling systems, assisting tradespersons and groundskeepers, conducting daily checks and inspections, and maintaining life safety systems, while fostering positive client relations.
