Job summary

A senior living management company in Vancouver is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to perform routine repairs and minor maintenance operations. Candidates should have hands-on experience with electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work, and be capable of working independently. This role involves ensuring the safety of premises and providing excellent service to residents. A Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Qualifications

  • Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.
  • Ability to manage and track work and costs, maintaining a budget.

  • Inspect the premises regularly for maintenance and safety issues.

Wage: $24.34

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Assistant executes routine repairs and minor maintenance operations with a focus on providing superior customer service to our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine repairs and minor maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing equipment, and building systems.
  • Paint, perform minor carpentry, and maintain exterior grounds (excluding services under contract).
  • Inspect the premises regularly for maintenance and safety issues, and report findings to the supervisor.
  • Follow established facility policies, procedures, safety rules, and safe working practices.
  • Fulfill housekeeping and maintenance duties as assigned, while performing handyman responsibilities.
  • Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
  • Uphold and promote the organization’s values related to ethics, morality, and integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to work independently and self-regulate.
  • Physical capability to perform duties, including moving heavy objects.
  • Familiarity with and ability to carry out minor repairs to facility and equipment.
  • Training in plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical work, plastering, and painting.
  • Ability to manage and track work and costs, maintaining a budget.
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols. Must provide a current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
