Contract : Fixed-term

Salary : £12.21 per hour plus generous service charge and great benefits

Set in the heart of the picturesque Fowey, our luxury family hotel is nestled along the stunning Cornish coastline, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. We are dedicated to providing our guests with an exceptional experience, and we are looking for a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team and contribute to the exceptional experience we provide.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will be responsible for keeping the hotel safe and in great working order – a necessity for our guests both little and big! Your role will involve managing all basic maintenance skills including painting, decorating, electrics, carpentry, and plumbing. It is extremely varied, and no two days are the same! You will need to have a keen eye for detail, be an effective communicator with your team members, be resourceful, and efficient.

This position is a fixed-term contract at 24 hours per week (until December 2025), with an hourly rate of £12.21 plus a generous service charge and great benefits.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of the hotel's facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and grounds
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify and address issues or potential hazards
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, resolving issues efficiently
  • Assist with implementing preventative maintenance programs to prolong equipment lifespan and minimise downtime
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment
  • Assist with landscaping and groundskeeping duties as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments to support hotel operations and special projects

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or facilities role (preferred)
  • Technical skills and knowledge of general maintenance techniques
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring moderate to heavy lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
