Job summary

A Long Term Care Community in Port Coquitlam is looking for a Maintenance Aide. You will ensure compliance with fire safety standards, conduct routine maintenance, and inspect mechanical systems. Ideal candidates have a post-secondary degree and at least two years of relevant experience. The position offers a wage of $27.10 per hour until wage leveling ends, with pay thereafter based on collective agreement rates.

  • Understanding of operation and maintenance of equipment used in Long Term Care Communities.

Responsibilities

The Maintenance Aide plays a vital role within our communities by impacting residents' lives and fostering human connection.

As a Maintenance Aide, your typical day will include:

  • Ensuring compliance with legislated standards related to fire safety, maintenance, and repair of Long Term Care Communities.
  • Maintaining an effective reporting system and internal controls within the maintenance department to achieve organizational goals.
  • Performing routine and preventative maintenance, and repairing equipment, building mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Documenting tasks properly and communicating concerns or high-risk issues to your manager.
  • Inspecting internal lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Must haves :

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma.
  • At least two (2) years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of maintenance department fundamentals.
  • Understanding of operation and maintenance of equipment used in Long Term Care Communities.
  • Experience in building trades and operations.
  • Ability to pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario applicants) or Criminal Records Check (British Columbia applicants).
