Job Description

MAINTENANCE WORKER

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Performs preventive maintenance and maintenance tasks including PM checks, mechanical operations, building inspections, minor on demand repairs, heavy duty cleaning, moving of furniture, grounds maintenance / work, and janitorial tasks etc. in accordance with the written policies and procedures of Extendicare, the facility, trade / CSA legislation and the Maintenance Department as well as prescribed sanitation and infection control procedures.
  • Reports unsafe and hazardous working conditions and any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor

What You Bring

  • Maintenance experience, preferably in an institutional setting.
  • Possess technical competencies related to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience with an older adult population an asset
  • Strong customer and resident service skills.
  • Experience in a high paced customer service setting an asset
  • Flexible and willingness to learn new tasks
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to quickly changing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English (other languages an asset)
