Madeleine Milburn is looking for a talented, enthusiastic and highly organised assistant (with a passion for books) who will work closely and intuitively with Madeleine and her existing literary assistant.
The successful applicant will have a minimum of two to three years' experience working at an agency or a traditional/digital publishing house. They will be knowledgeable about current trends in the book market, have an eye for commercial fiction and a keen interest in the digital marketplace. Crucially, they will have the highest standards and abilities in organisation and planning, expert attention to detail, and will be able to use and develop systems with ease.
The successful candidate will be liaising with authors and their publishers on a daily basis, so strong communication, written and IT skills are essential.
Since founding the MM Agency in 2012, Madeleine has handled a string of record-breaking deals for debut authors both in the UK, US and Canada. She was made Literary Agent of the Year in 2018 and was shortlisted again in 2020. She represents bestselling authors including Gail Honeyman, Holly Bourne, CJ Tudor, Fiona Barton, Elizabeth Macneal, CL Taylor and Mark Edwards.
We are happy to offer a salary of between £24K and £27K, based on experience, and subject to a review after six months.
To apply, please email your CV and a covering letter addressed to Madeleine Milburn that includes your notice period and five books you have enjoyed this year and why, to jobs@madeleinemilburn.com no later than 18 September 2020. We reserve the right to close the recruitment process early if we have found the right candidate.
We welcome applications from any individual regardless of ethnic origin, gender, disability, religious belief, sexual orientation or age. All applications will be considered on merit.
