We are currently looking for Journeymen Machinists.

Machinistsoperate a variety of machines to perform assigned tasks within the shop. This position will produce and/or repair precision parts using both manual and automated equipment as well as measuring tools.

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, provincial, and federal safety regulations, codes, and specifications - knowledge of safe operating procedures.
  • Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (eye, ear, steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.)
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekdays, and weekends, and be available to respond to customer emergencies.
  • Report all injuries, near misses, and accidents immediately to a supervisor.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Study specifications, charts, drawings, or sample parts to determine the machining operations to be performed.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances and prepare working sketches if necessary.
  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Measure and mark metal and other materials.
  • Fit parts to mechanisms and verify dimensions.
  • Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling.
  • Precision operation of lathes and mills in the replacement/repair of electric motor components.
  • Repair machine tools and parts.
  • Set up and adjust production machineries/tools.
  • Performing preventative maintenance as required.
  • Read and interpret documentation, manuals, specifications, etc.
  • Understand, perform, and retain various skill related training and operational procedures.
  • Other duties as required.

What we need from you:

  • 3+ years’ experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Accountability and strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, with developed analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Conditions:

  • Manual dexterity and the ability to remain standing, crouching, or bending for long periods of time.
  • Hazards associated with the trade.
  • Safety equipment is required and will be supplied by Continental Electrical, including:

    • Steel-toed safety boots.

    • Safety glasses/googles.

    • Coveralls.

    • Specialized PPE.


  • Overtime, as required.
