Job summary

Pursuit Aerospace in Montréal (Pointe-Claire), Québec, is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist for an evening shift. The role sets up and operates CNC turning machines in a production cell, with program edits in collaboration with the Methods team and supervision of multiple machines to meet order requirements.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to read blueprints, strong mechanical aptitude, and English instructions.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates CNC turning machines and related equipment using established programs, fixtures, and machining methods.
• Works with the Methods team to edit programs and adjust machining to meet drawings and specs.
• Operates and monitors multiple CNC turning machines within a production cell.
• Applies feeds, speeds, and tooling knowledge to optimize processes.
• Inspects parts for dimensions and conformance to specifications.
• Meets established quality and production requirements.
• Completes production records (counts, scrap, time) per procedures.
• Maintains clean, safe, organized work area and performs operator maintenance.
• Monitors coolant levels and replenishes as needed.
• Trains and guides other employees as required.
• Follows all company policies including safety and housekeeping.

About the Opportunity:

The CNC Lathe Machinist sets up and operates various CNC turning machines within a production cell.

This evening-shift position runs Monday to Friday, from 3:15 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. Initial training takes place on day shift, and candidates must be available to work daytime hours until training is successfully completed.

Location:

Montréal (Pointe-Claire) Québec . This position is 100% onsite. Pay is based on relevant experience and demonstrated skill level. An evening shift premium of $2.00 is paid in addition to the base hourly rate.

Responsibilities:

• Sets up and operates CNC turning machines and related equipment using established programs, fixtures, and machining methods.
• Works with the Methods team to make program edits and machining adjustments as required to meet work order requirements, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• Operates and monitors multiple CNC turning machines within a production cell.
• Applies working knowledge of feeds, speeds, cutting tools, and their applications.
• Inspects parts to verify all required dimensions and ensure conformance to specifications.
• Meets established quality and production requirements.
• Accurately completes production records, including part counts, scrap, and time reporting, according to Company procedures.
• Consistently follows good machining practices.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area, equipment, and tooling, and completes operator maintenance sheets.
• Monitors coolant levels and replenishes tanks as needed.
• Trains, guides, and assists other employees as required.
• Follows all Company policies and procedures, including housekeeping, safety, and security requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and sketches.
• Demonstrated mechanical ability.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience operating multiple machines in a cellular manufacturing environment
• Prior experience using precision measuring instruments
• Exposure to aerospace or tight-tolerance manufacturing environments

Working Conditions

• Work is performed on the production floor and requires standing at CNC machines for most of the shift, with walking between machines and work areas.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and cut-resistant gloves.
• Overtime or weekend work may be required to meet production needs.
