Job description

Kaycan has an exciting career opportunity for a Machinist based in Smith Falls to join our team. This is a great chance to join a Top Employer and contribute to our growth and success.

Shift: 12 hour shift / Rotate every two weeks

Starting Rate of Pay: $28/hour

Responsibilities

  • Direct manufacturing equipment support and maintenance.
  • Machine parts to specifications using lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, milling machines, or grinders for in house use.
  • Measure, examine, and report on completed units to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision tooling.
  • Inspect sample parts, assist developing drawings, to determine sequences of operations needed to machine products.
  • Fabrication skills (Mig and arc)
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
  • Follow Maintenance Manager and Supervisor direction and can prioritize tasks.
  • Fabricate as required for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures, including quality and health and safety.

Requirements :

  • Machining experience required.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables.
  • Repair machine tools and parts.
  • Set up and adjust machines/tools.
  • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to required tolerance.
  • Maintain, repair, and calibrate precision measuring instruments.
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
