Job description

TransCanada Turbines (TCT) is the sole authorized overhaul, repair and maintenance service provider for Siemens Energy and General Electric (GE) aeroderivative industrial gas turbines, serving an expanding international client base.

We are currently seeking an experienced Machinist to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Team Lead of Component Repair, the Component Repair Machinist is responsible for repairing gas turbine components using machine tools & process equipment within Component Repair, demonstrating a high degree of mechanical skills, aptitude, accuracy & precision.

Duties

Duties will include but will not be limited to the following:

  1. Perform setup, calibration, maintenance, programming & operation of all machining equipment including lathes, grinders, milling machines including computer numerically controlled (CNC), numerically Controlled (NC) & manually operated.
  2. Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, specifications, blueprints & OEM repair schemes & associated documentation, as well as route cards technical instructions etc.
  3. Verification of dimensions, tolerances of products for accuracy & conformance to specification using precision measuring equipment & instruments such as Verniers, gauges, micrometers & 3D gauging equipment. Conduct light repairs including bench work, blending, de-burring & dressing.
  4. Assist in training/cross training to gain new skills in other processes as required to suit the business needs, including assisting the Team Leader with the compilation of work instructions and procedures.
  5. Assist with repair scheme development and expansion of the current component repair scope of services.
  6. Hands on involvement with the repair of various engine components as required to achieve shop production schedules, under the direction of your Team Leader.
  7. Monitor shop practices to ensure that you operate in a healthy, safe, and environmentally conscious manner, per TCT policies and procedures. Take steps to raise any condition that violates this fundamental principle.
  8. Make recommendations on policy and procedures to improve shop productivity and profit of the company in general, and to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  9. Increase knowledge of the HSE Policy and Manual and maintain a positive attitude towards the health and safety of myself and my coworkers.
  10. Take ownership of HSE issues and demonstrate enthusiasm and support for HSE.
  11. Other duties as directed by the Team Leader, Component Repair.

Company Requirements:
  1. Journeyman Machinist with Interprovincial Red Seal is preferred
  2. 2+ years related experience or a combination of education & experience will be considered
  3. Shift work is required (Day & Evening rotation)
  4. Successful completion of a criminal background check
  5. Successful completion of a post-offer medical and drug & alcohol test
