Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of CNC milling equipment operation experience.
  • Forklift and overhead crane training or experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, program, and execute machining tasks based on work orders, drawings, and specifications.
  • Verify programs through first article inspections.
  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures and ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Complete production and quality logs.
  • Participate in training and safety meetings.
  • Perform quality control inspections as needed.

Skills

Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
Basic math skills (Grade 12 level)
Commitment to continuous improvement
Experience with Mazak and Hurco milling machines
Independent programming skills
Knowledge of Mastercam

Education

Grade 12 or GED equivalent

Position Overview:

The Machinist III produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC and manual heavy machinery, along with other shop equipment. Responsibilities include quality control activities and adherence to safety procedures. Active participation in FET’s Health, Safety, and Environment program is required. The role may involve various shifts and overtime depending on workload.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Plan, program, and execute machining tasks based on work orders, drawings, and specifications.
  2. Verify programs through first article inspections.
  3. Adhere to quality assurance procedures and ensure parts meet quality standards.
  4. Maintain documentation of actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs across shifts.
  5. Complete production and quality logs.
  6. Follow all company policies, especially health, safety, and environmental policies.
  7. Keep work areas clean and organized.
  8. Participate in training and safety meetings.
  9. Perform quality control inspections as needed.
  10. Ensure tools and machinery are properly maintained.
  11. Work flexible shifts (day/night) and overtime as necessary.
  12. Lifting up to 45 lbs independently.
  13. Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Basic math skills (Grade 12 level).
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Mazak and Hurco milling machines is an asset.
