Job description

About Us

At 4AG Robotics, we build robots that harvest mushrooms-and we’re growing fast. Our team thrives at the intersection of agriculture and automation, combining hands-on grit with cutting-edge technology. If you’re energized by solving real-world problems, owning your work, and using AI to do things better and faster, this is your kind of place.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a skilled and hands-on Machinist and Fabricator to join our R&D team, where innovation moves fast and every part matters. This role offers the chance to contribute directly to the creation of custom components for cutting-edge prototypes in a dynamic environment. You'll work alongside engineers and technicians who are passionate about precision, problem-solving, and building what’s next in agricultural robotics.

What You’ll Do

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC equipment such as mills, lathes, saws, and grinders
  • Machine and fabricate precision parts based on technical drawings, CAD models, and blueprints
  • Perform MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding on materials including aluminum, steel, and stainless
  • Create custom brackets, frames, and assemblies using fabrication tools like brakes, rollers, and shears
  • Inspect completed work to verify dimensional accuracy and quality standards
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate shop tools and equipment for peak performance
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and mechanical design teams to refine manufacturability
  • Track material usage, support inventory management, and report shortages
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and help maintain a clean, organized workspace
  • Contribute ideas to continuously improve workflows and shop processes

What Success Looks Like

  • High-quality, precise parts are consistently delivered on time to support fast-paced prototyping needs
  • You proactively identify and solve fabrication or design challenges in collaboration with the team
  • Equipment is well-maintained, safe, and ready to go-downtime is minimal
  • You contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce rework
  • You’re a go-to person for turning ideas into tangible, working components

What You Bring

  • Red Seal certification in Machining, Metal Fabrication, or equivalent trade experience (preferred)
  • 3+ years of machining and fabrication experience, ideally in prototyping or custom manufacturing
  • Proficiency with both manual and CNC machining techniques and welding processes
  • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and use precision measuring tools (e.g., callipers, micrometers)
  • Familiarity with a wide range of materials, tolerances, and fabrication methods
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software is a plus
  • A keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative spirit
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Why This Role Matters

As a Machinist and Fabricator, your work brings our ideas to life. Whether it’s the first version of a new part or a precision fix to an existing one, your contributions are essential to building, testing, and improving the technology that powers our robots. You are the link between design and execution-and your craftsmanship helps drive innovation forward.

What We Believe

At 4AG Robotics, we embrace the fast pace of start-up life. Innovation drives us, and staying open to new ideas keeps us moving forward. We encourage healthy debate but always commit to moving forward as a team. We work hard, support each other fully, and value agility over bureaucracy. And yes, the freezer is always stocked with ice cream!
