Job summary

Timken in Canada is seeking an Afternoon Shift Machinist with experience in gear cutting and milling to join our precision manufacturing team. The role starts at 3:00pm, Monday to Thursday, focusing on setup, programing and operation of milling machines and CNC equipment with strict tolerance requirements.

Ideal candidates have related apprenticeship or journeyman background, familiar with ISO/QC standards, and can work independently while maintaining safety and housekeeping in a fast-paced shop

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints and engineered drawings.
• Setup, program, and operate HBMs or VMMs.
• Understand tool limitations and controls during operation.
• Operate machines within tight tolerances with proper feeds and speeds.
• Measure precisely using mics, calipers, bore gauges.
• Operate crane with rigging knowledge up to 20 tonnes.
• Inspect work per ISO and QA standards.
• Able to work unsupervised on own machine.

Responsibilities

• Assure compliance with safety practices and procedures.
• Maintain clean working environment by complying with procedures.

Competencies

• Ability to operate a crane with proper rigging techniques
• Experience with medium to large mills
• Ability to run variety of CNC Machines and equipment
• Attention to detail with a focus on quality
• Experience in a shop environment, preferably with custom ability
• Reliable track record at previous employment
