Location Profile:
Located in Ontario, California USA, Summit Machine, LLC specializes in the rough and finish machining of super alloys for the aerospace, commercial, defense, power, and petroleum industries. Complex components include nickel base, titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel with parts ranging in size from 2” OD – 120” OD.

Position: Machinist (CNC Lathe) - 3rd Shift.

Position Summary:
The experienced Machinist operates 2-5 axis CNC lathe machines, which requires machine setup including preparing and setting up fixtures and cutting tools, loading and adjusting CNC programs and offsets, performing inspections, and basic preventative machine maintenance such as coolant and lube levels and area cleanliness. Competencies include the ability to use more advanced quality inspection tools and techniques. Must be able to read prints and have experience with common CNC G and M codes.

Work schedule for 3rd shift is: Su - Th, 8:15 pm - 4:45 am, working on horizontal or vertical lathe machines. THIS IS NOT MILLING WORK.

This position is designed to support off-shift operations (3rd shift), however, the selected individual will train on 1st shift from 4:15 am – 12:45 pm, M – F for approximately 3 months, or until able to demonstrate an ability to perform the job with minimal intervention. Shift differential will apply upon schedule change to off-shift support.

Required Skills:
  • The ability to maintain a lot of traceability.
  • The ability to load parts.
  • The ability to maintain Machine Safety (LOTO recognition, interlocks, etc.)
  • The ability to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, & specifications.
  • The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Familiarity with all tools and equipment in a machine shop, including micrometers, calipers, various measuring tools, shovels, brooms, etc.
Experience & Education:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in automotive or aerospace manufacturing preferred.
