Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Machine Shop Technician - Boring Mill for our Oakville, Ontario facility on the Weekend Night shift (Fri–Sun, 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.). You will set up and operate boring mill processes, read blueprints, and ensure tight tolerances with precision measurement and self-checks.

Required are 3 years of boring mill or 5-axis machining experience, English communication skills, and the ability to use measuring equipment.

Qualifications

• 3 years of current Boring Mill machining experience and/or 5-axis machining experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Ability to read tolerances and use measurement tools for quality control.
• Eligible to work in Canada; ITAR/CCGP compliance required.
• Verbal and written English communication skills.
• Experience operating overhead cranes safely.
• 5 axis machining experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform own manual set-ups by positioning and aligning tooling per setup instructions using CNC programming language (G codes).
• Maintain tolerances by observing operation and making necessary machine offset adjustments, cutter changes and self-inspection (OSV).
• Document actions in support of quality logs, communicate all discrepancies in machining to supervision and create Product Defect Sheets (PDS).
• Perform work from set-up sheets, manufacturing sheets and drawings.
• Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work Development in the cell.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Do

• Perform own manual set-ups by positioning and aligning tooling per set-up instructions using CNC programming language (G codes).

Qualifications

• High school diploma, and a minimum of 3 years of current Boring Mill machining experience and/or 5 Axis Machining experience
• Experience utilizing measuring equipment in support of quality requirements
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP
• Certificate of Qualification (C of Q)
• Verbal and written communication skills (English)
• Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner
• 5 Axis Machining experience

The salary range for this role is 61,334 CAD - 97,190 CAD . The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
