Job summary

Permacon in Ottawa is seeking a Machine Operator for rotating day/night and weekend shifts at our Metcalfe plant. You will operate the Rekers machine, set up and adjust equipment, and ensure quality and productivity targets are met.

You will program equipment, save recipes for changeovers, perform preventive maintenance, and help keep the workspace clean and safe. Join a team-focused environment with opportunities for growth at Permacon.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge is an asset
• At least 2 years in manufacturing operating equipment
• Teamwork oriented, mechanical aptitude, initiative, responsible, precise
• Must pass mechanical aptitude test

Responsibilities

• Operate Rekers machine (dry side) and ensure its proper functioning
• Operate strapping and wrapping machines and ensure proper functioning
• Operate all equipment related to the machine
• Follow quality manual; complete quality and production reports
• Perform set-up changes and machine start-up adjustments
• Program equipment and save product recipes to optimize changeovers
• Perform preventive maintenance and participate in maintenance work
• Keep work area clean and participate in department housekeeping
• Communicate abnormalities or faulty situations to relevant personnel
• Work as a team and wear required PPE
