Job description

Reporting to the Production Supervisors, the Machine Operator will work towards increasing efficiencies to run modern bag machines. The candidate will be responsible for achieving daily production targets while maintaining quality according to customer specifications.

Position: MACHINE OPERATOR

Shift: Rotating bi-weekly shifts (Mornings 7am–3pm, Afternoons 3pm–11pm, Nights 11pm–7am) — must be available for all three shifts: morning, afternoon, and night

Salary: $21 - $27/hour

Location: Queensway E & Stanfield Rd

Type: Permanent hire position

Responsibilities
  • Operate Weber and Garant Machines, packaging at required dial speeds
  • Prepare rolls
  • Re-web machines
  • Make machine adjustments: adjust slits, replace tucking blades, adjust/replace spots, change coarse/fine knives
  • Install correct bottom pesters, maintain glue levels
  • Use shop floor software, label, count, and palletize
  • Clean machines
  • Achieve production targets
  • Document and report production data
  • Conduct quality control and assurance
  • Identify and report deviations and variations
Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in the printing industry; experience on similar machines preferred
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Work safely in accordance with all health and safety standards and policies
Summary

Strong time management skills, punctuality, and reliability. Ability to problem-solve and collaborate effectively with management and colleagues. Attention to detail for reading production sheets, sample boards, and schedules. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
