Saturday & Sunday: 7:00pm-7:00am (Weekend Nights)

Saturday & Sunday: 7:00am-7:00pm (Weekend Days)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Rewind Operator at Polyvinyl Films Inc. is responsible for operating and maintaining the rewinding machines that convert large rolls of plastic into smaller, finished rolls for packaging and distribution. This includes monitoring machine performance, adjusting settings to ensure quality control, and ensuring that the product meets specifications for thickness, width, and appearance. The operator works closely with the production team to ensure that all production goals are met efficiently and safely.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and monitor the rewinding machines to convert extruded plastic film into smaller rolls according to the customer specifications.
  • Inspect finished rolls for defects such as wrinkles, holes, or uneven thickness.
  • Ensure the quality of the finished product meets company standards.
  • Adjust machine settings such as tension, speed, and tension bars to ensure optimal roll quality and performance.
  • Set up and prepare rewinding machines for production runs, ensuring all necessary materials and tolls are available and that the machine is calibrates properly.
  • Regularly inspect the rewound plastic film rolls for consistency in thickness, width, and finish, ensuring they meet required specifications.
  • Monitor the production process to ensure that machinery operates efficiently and troubleshoot any issues that may arise during production.
  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning on rewinding machines to ensure their proper function and extend machine life.
  • Complete production logs, including the number of rolls produced, any issues encountered, and maintenance performed. Report any problems to supervisor.
  • Follow safety protocols while operating machinery.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all company and industry safety standards.
  • Work closely with the extrusion and production teams to meet production targets and troubleshoot any issues in the production process.
  • Ensure that finished rolls are properly handled and packaged for distribution, ensuring they are free from defects and meet size specifications.
  • Load and unload raw materials such as plastic film rolls onto the rewinding machines. Ensure material is stored properly to prevent damage.
  • Participate in training sessions and team meetings to improve operational efficiency, safety practices, and product quality.

ESSENTIALS JOB DUTIES:

  • Safely and efficiently operate rewinding machines to ensure that finished rolls of blown plastic film meet production specifications.
  • Conduct inspections throughout the production process to ensure the final product is free from defects and consistent with customer requirements.
  • Quickly identify issues with the rewinding process or machinery and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Set up the rewinding machines, adjust tension, roll size, and film speed to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate protective equipment and using safe work practices.
  • Perform regular machine maintenance, such as cleaning rollers, lubricating parts, and checking for wear and tear, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of production, including any downtime, adjustments, and material usage to assist with tracking performance and identifying potential issues.
  • Properly package and label finished rolls for shipment or storage, ensuring they are handled in accordance with company standards.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to operate and adjust rewinding machines and related equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Knowledge of blown plastic film characteristics and common defects.
  • Ability to read and understand production schedules, specifications, and safety guidelines.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Additional technical certifications or training in manufacturing or machine operating.
  • 1-2 years’ experience machine operating in a manufacturing environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Exposure to dust, dirt and noise.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, as well as bend, crouch and reach.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.


PART-TIME WEEKEND:

Saturday & Sunday: 7:00am-7:00pm
Saturday & Sunday: 7:00pm-7:00am
24 hours - (2) 12 hour shifts.
