Job summary

The Authentic T-Shirt Company/SanMar Canada in Mississauga, ON is seeking a diligent Machine Operator to support receiving, picking, processing, and shipping of imprintable apparel.

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, you will operate forklifts and reach trucks, use the PICK RF system, perform put-away, and ensure accurate inventory while maintaining a safe, tidy work area and adhering to company policies.

Qualifications

• Able to safely operate a forklift, narrow aisle order picker, and turret truck.
• Experience with RF handheld scanners and the internal PICK system.

Responsibilities

• Pick high-bay orders to meet daily cut-off deadlines.
• Maintain accurate location and put-away for inbound and outbound operations.
• Unload inbound trailers and load transfer trailers as directed by Operations Supervisor.
• Maintain a neat, safe work area and participate in inventory cycle counts.
• Report discrepancies and assist in process improvements.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for operation of all Material Handling Equipment to be used in receiving, order fulfillment (picking, processing, checking) and shipping.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Able to safely operate a forklift, narrow aisle order picker and turret truck


• Working knowledge of internal PICK system and location maintenance, utilizing RF system


• Work well under pressure and meet deadlines


• Able to work from Reach Truck platform at heights of 20 feet or more

Working Conditions

• 40 hours per week; occasional overtime required


• Work well under pressure and meet deadlines


• Must wear CSA approved safety footwear with protective steel toes and other personal protective


• equipment as required


• Able to perform continuous lifting up to 50lbs


• Repetitive bending, lifting, pulling, and stretching


• Able to work from truck platform at heights of 20 feet or more


• Use of ladder

Job Responsibilities

• Pick high‐bay orders to meet daily cut off deadlines


• Perform high and mid‐bay location maintenance to meet minimum accuracy standards


• Perform put‐away for inbound operation


• Shipping


• Accurately and efficiently putaway orders


• Efficiently unloads inbound trailers and loads transfer trailers as directed by Operations Supervisor


• Maintain a neat and tidy work area


• Participate in inventory cycle count program


• Identify and verify quantities, codes, and colours of incoming receivables


• Check for damaged cases/damaged product at point of receival; sign bill of lading appropriately and clear, noting damage or shortage


• Report any discrepancies between packing slips and actual inbound freight to Operations Supervisor


• Accurately locate products in high and mid‐bay locations using RF system


• Optimize storage space through product consolidations


• Stack wooden pallets in a safe and organized manner


• Monitor and report high and mid‐bay product locations to inventory for corrections


• Perform daily check on equipment and battery fluid levels


• Report any problems with equipment without delay


• Actively participate in process analysis and improvement activities


• Adhere to current and future company policies and standards to ensure a safe and agreeable working environment


• Assist in other areas of the Warehouse department and additional duties as required by management

Working Relationships & Communications

• Inform Inventory Control of any case lot deficiencies


• Work in cooperation and communicate effectively with all levels of the SanMar Canada team


• Keep co‐workers informed of activities that have implications to their departments


• Openly communicate any successes, concerns or problems related to the job
