Permacon, a CRH Company, is a leader and pioneer in the manufacturing of concrete masonry and landscaping products. Permacon is a division of Oldcastle APG and operates 9 plants in Ontario and Quebec.

We are currently looking for Machine Operators for rotating day/night shift and for the weekend shift at our Metcalfe plant, Southern Ottawa.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate Rekers machine (dry side) and ensure its good functioning.
  • Operate the strapping and wrapping machines and ensure their good functioning.
  • Operate all equipment related to the machine.
  • Follow quality manual. Complete quality and production reports. Monitor curing process to ensure product quality.
  • Perform set-up changes and necessary adjustments for machine start-up.
  • Program equipment according to product specifications. Make and save product recipes to optimize changeovers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of equipment and participate in maintenance work.
  • Participate in machine clean-up and maintain a clean work area and toolbox.
  • Communicate abnormalities or faults related to product, quality, machine, or workplace to competent persons.
  • Work as part of a team and wear safety personal protective equipment as required.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma.
  • Knowledge of wielding, mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics is an asset.
  • At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing industry operating equipment.
  • Team-oriented, mechanically inclined, responsible, with initiative and ability to react quickly.
  • Must pass a mechanical aptitude test.
