Overview

Job ID: 505614. Permacon, a CRH Company, is a leader and pioneer in the manufacturing of concrete masonry and landscaping products. Permacon is a division of Oldcastle APG and operates 9 plants in Ontario and Quebec. We are currently looking for Machine Operators for rotating day/night shift and for the weekend shift at our Metcalfe plant, Southern Ottawa.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Operates Rekers machine (dry side) and ensures its good functioning.
  • Operates the strapping and wrapping machines and ensures their good functioning.
  • Operates all equipment related to the machine.
  • Follows quality manual, completes quality and production reports, and looks after the curing of products to ensure proper curing.
  • Performs set-up changes and necessary adjustments for machine start-up.
  • Programs equipment according to the product requested. Makes and saves product recipes to optimize product changeover.
  • Performs preventive maintenance of equipment and participates in maintenance work.
  • Participates in machine clean-up and keeps work area and toolbox clean; participates in Rekers department housekeeping.
  • Communicates any abnormalities or faulty situations regarding product, quality, machine, equipment, workplace, or other to competent persons.
  • Works as a team and wears safety personal protective equipment as required for this position and work safely.
Requirements
  • High school diploma.
  • Wielding, mechanic, hydraulics and pneumatic knowledge is an asset.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the manufacturing industry operating equipment.
  • Teamwork oriented, mechanical aptitude, initiative; responsible, able to react, precise.
  • Shall pass the mechanical aptitude test to validate mechanical aptitude.
