Job Description: Machine Operator at Permacon

Permacon, a CRH Company, is a leader in manufacturing concrete masonry and landscaping products. Operating 9 plants across Ontario and Quebec, Permacon is a division of Oldcastle APG.

We are seeking Machine Operators for rotating day/night shifts and weekend shifts at our Metcalfe plant, Southern Ottawa.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operate Rekers machine (dry side) ensuring proper functioning.
2. Operate strapping and wrapping machines, ensuring their good working order.
3. Operate all equipment related to the machinery.
4. Follow quality manual, complete quality and production reports, and oversee product curing to ensure quality.
5. Perform setup changes and necessary adjustments for machine startup.
6. Program equipment according to product specifications, create and save product recipes to optimize changeovers.
7. Perform preventive maintenance and participate in maintenance activities.
8. Participate in machine cleanup and maintain a clean work area and toolbox.
9. Communicate abnormalities or faults related to product, quality, machinery, or workplace to competent persons.
10. Work collaboratively as part of a team.
11. Wear appropriate safety personal protective equipment and adhere to safety protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of wielding, mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics is an asset.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in manufacturing equipment operation.
• Team-oriented, mechanically inclined, proactive, responsible, precise, and able to react quickly.
• Must pass a mechanical aptitude test.
