Job description
Overview

Cardinal Health Canada, with over 1300 employees nationwide, provides over 70,000 products to healthcare facilities and medical professionals across the country. Cardinal Health-Gananoque manufactures medical devices and is looking for positive and team-oriented individuals to join our Gananoque manufacturing center as Machine Operator II to support the production department. Join our ECG team to operate disposable electrode machines under the supervision of the Lead Hands and Production Supervisor.

Location: Gananoque, Ontario

Responsibilities
  • Operate electrode machines to produce disposable electrodes
  • Set up machines with proper materials
  • Monitor production runs and make necessary adjustments
  • Replenish materials as they run out (up to nine different materials)
  • Ensure quality of electrodes during production and maintain acceptable scrap levels
  • Monitor production based upon feedback
  • Make necessary adjustments as required, referring to specifications
  • Perform random sampling and testing to control quality levels (gel weights, sensor tests)
  • Perform repairs and adjustments within the operator’s capabilities
  • Change small moving parts (e.g., gel nozzles, springs)
  • Report major problems that require maintenance staff to supervisor
  • Provide assistance to maintenance staff when required
  • Assign and maintain batch codes; record and verify batch codes from each raw material
  • Complete and maintain accuracy of documentation
  • Test new material or assist in developing new products (under supervisor/Engineering supervision)
  • Set up for different materials; monitor and report results
  • Make suggestions and work with others to improve development
  • Maintain cleanliness of machine and work areas
  • Ensure machine is in good operating condition (request repairs as needed)
  • Ensure machine is free of grease, rust, dirt, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area following 5S standards to improve efficiency
Qualifications
  • Comprehensive mechanical knowledge of equipment
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Machine maintenance skills, high mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy while achieving standard goals
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multi-task
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • General knowledge of production practices
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 environment
  • Team-oriented with clear communication and quality control
