Machine Operator

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Food Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining food processing and packaging machinery. They ensure that production lines run efficiently, meet quality standards, and adhere to safety regulations. This role requires attention to detail, technical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Set up, operate, and monitor food processing and packaging machinery.
2. Adjust machine settings to ensure proper functioning and product quality.
3. Feed raw materials and finished products into machines and oversee the production process.
4. Perform routine maintenance on machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts if needed.
5. Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
6. Report major malfunctions to maintenance staff or supervisors.
7. Work closely with other operators, quality control staff, and supervisors to meet production goals.
8. Assist in training new employees in machine operation and safety procedures.
9. Ability to package the product as per the given recipes for each department.
10. Maintain productivity and efficiency levels.
11. Use weighing scales for weight checks when required.
12. Record QA documents in real time.
13. Perform metal detector checks as per the Standard Operating Procedures.
14. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene, good manufacturing practices, and follow standard company and provincial regulations for food safety and quality.
15. Record production data, including quantities produced, machine settings, and downtime.
16. Clean the areas and perform post-operational checks and pre-operational checks.
17. Complete logs and reports as required by company policies.
18. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

1. Some high school and related experience.
2. Attention to detail and final product presentation.
3. Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors in English.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/TRAVEL:

1. Reading – Some basic high school.
2. Writing – Some basic high school.
3. Math – Some basic high school.
4. Computer – Basic computer skills.
5. Equipment – Calculators, wrapping machine, sealing machine, metal detector, conveyor belts, thermometer, weighing scales, flow wrapper, hoppers.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Lifting, bending, and twisting. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and 50 lbs occasionally.
2. Stationary position in a cold environment for up to 4-hour periods.

MANAGEMENT/PLANNING:

1. May assist in training new staff.
