Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies is seeking a Machine Operator to program and operate plasma and laser cutting equipment in a steel fabrication environment. You will ensure maintenance, meet production schedules, and report issues promptly while supporting various shifts and workload demands.

The role requires reading drawings, independent work, and familiarity with 5S/Lean. Preference is given to candidates with experience on Trumpf/Messer equipment and CNC plate/tube cutting in metal fabrication.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Read drawings/blueprints.
• Must be able to work in a steel fab shop.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Familiar with 5S/Lean principles.
• Motivated to learn and improve.
• Position attitude with aptitude for problem solving.
• Preference given to Trumpf and Messer equipment familiarity.
• Preference given to experience operating CNC plate and tube cutting equipment in a metal fab plant.

Responsibilities

• Program simple cuts on the machine.
• Efficiently operate and maintain plasma and laser cutting equipment.
• Ensure production schedule for machine is adhered to.
• Report any programming/software issues promptly to supervisor or programmer.
• Work varying shifts and workloads/overtime as required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area to Brandt standards.
• Ensure machine is in optimal working condition at all times.
• Achieve efficient flow of materials into and out of the machine.
• Follow the PM schedule defined by the manufacturer.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Machine Operator programs and operates plasma and laser cutting equipment to meet production schedules. This role ensures equipment is properly maintained, follows preventative maintenance schedules, and reports programming or mechanical issues promptly. The Operator maintains material flow, workplace organization, and adheres to safety and operational standards while supporting varying shift and workload requirements.
