Job Title:
Machine Operator
Main Purpose of the Job:
Primary duties include general production labour activities under the direction of a mentor employee that include product assembly and various machine operation actions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Setup and change product materials in accordance with the production plan
- Continuously maintain or exceed production efficiency goals
- Operate or tend automatic or multi-purpose machines including wire looms to produce metal parts and metal products such as wire screening, fencing, tinware, metal baskets, racks, hooks, metal tubing and similar articles
- Fit and assemble components using hand and power tools
- Clean, polish, file or otherwise finish products
- Check products for quality and other specifications
- May clean and lubricate machinery
- Work in accordance with all Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Other duties may be assigned accordingly
Qualifications:
- Secondary School Diploma or higher
- Previous manufacturing experience
- Aptitude for Math, problem solving, computer and mechanics
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work and communicate well with others
- Proficiency with hand tools
- Willing to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
Working Conditions
- Machine Operators almost always work indoors, in a warehouse setting, work outdoors on rare occasions to work in special working conditions.
- Dusty working environment
- Work near co-workers, but usually have a few feet of space
- Wear gloves, hard hats or other protective attire
