Job summary

PRT Dryden is seeking a seasonal Machine Operator to operate, service and maintain nursery equipment used in forest seedling production under the Nursery Manager.

This fast-paced, outdoor role is performed mainly in greenhouses, exposing you to varying weather and temperatures, with training and development opportunities.

You will join a stable, inclusive team that values safety, quality and collaboration while helping advance reforestation and sustainable forestry.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to the PRT Dryden site.
  • Experience operating various mobile equipment.
  • Good manual dexterity and eyesight.
  • Team-oriented personality with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong and professional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Great organizational, record keeping and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
  • Commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Operate nursery equipment in a safe and efficient way.
  • Keep neat and accurate records including computerized record keeping systems.
  • Operate computerized and other control systems.
  • Assist in the training of employees in the safe and efficient use of nursery equipment.
  • Repair and maintain equipment in safe working order.
  • Tarp, load and unload trucks.

Job Description

A Day in the Life:

PRT Dryden is currently recruiting a seasonal Machine Operator. The Machine Operator will operate, service and maintain farm equipment that is used for carrying out forest seedling production activities as directed by the Nursery Manager or designates. This engaging, high paced, physical position offers a safe work environment and an opportunity for a career that will make a positive change in the world. Candidates should have a desire and keenness to learn about reforestation and restoration nursery activities, work independently and efficiently. Majority of the work will be done in the green houses and outdoors, on and off machinery and with exposure to different weather conditions and temperature extremes (cold and very warm). Candidates may be interviewed and tested to assess their skill, ability, competence, and efficiency for this position. The person in this position must pass the functional abilities assessment.

Additional Information

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary information: $18.36 – $27.57 / hour. In determining the wage, PRT considers many factors including he successful candidate’s skillset and experience.
