Job summary

MacLean Engineering is seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our Collingwood, Ontario team. The successful candidate will operate metalworking equipment, read drawings, and ensure parts meet specifications.

The role requires basic machining skills, ability to handle cranes and forklifts, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Commitment to continuous improvement and flexibility with duties is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or Certificate of Completion
• Some post-secondary education in a related discipline or skilled trade education is preferred
• One (1) + year' related work experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, specifications, or follow verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
• Set up and operate metalworking machines such as band saw, burn table, brake press, and CNC equipment.
• Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications.
• Operate material handling devices such as overhead crane, gantry crane, and forklift in compliance with safety standards.
• Document Engineering Change Requests according to procedures.
• Support Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S housekeeping.
• Perform basic operations on manual machines with supervision.
• Layout parts to specification.
• Follow ISO 9001 quality procedures.
• Contribute to safety, quality, and process improvements.

POSITION TITLE: Machine Operator

LOCATION: Collingwood, Ontario

SHIFTS: Weekend Shift (Friday to Sunday, 6:00a.m. to 6:00p.m.)

PAY: $21-25 per hour

About the Position:

The Machine Operator is responsible responsible for operating basic metal working machinery to perform machining operations on ferrous and nonferrous metals and plastic parts, weldments, or assemblies to engineering specifications in compliance with all MEMCO policies and procedures. This position requires the following proficiencies:

• Read and interpret drawings, specifications, or follow verbal instructions of Lead Hand or Supervisor with minimal supervision.
• Set up and operate one or more metalworking machines such as; band saw, burn table, brake press, and computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment.
• Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications.
• Operate material handling devices such as; overhead crane, gantry crane, and forklift in compliance with applicable safety standards and best practices. Material handling includes safe rigging and transportation of various loads.
• Document Engineering Change Requests according to applicable procedures under direction of Supervisor.
• Adopt and practice good housekeeping, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Basic operations on manual machines with supervision.
• Able to layout parts to specification.
• Abide by all applicable regulatory and company-specific safety standards.
• Abide by ISO 9001 Quality Management System and associated procedures.
• Contribute to continual improvement of safety, quality, product, production, work environment.
• Willing to cross-train in other departments as needed on a temporary basis.
